About the Project
The project team is a partnership of the Center for Appalachian Philanthropy (AppaPhil) in Scioto County, Ohio; Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia; Ohio University in Athens, Ohio; and many partners at the county level. The grant provides a multitude of ways for this team and your county to work together.
Local people understand the needs of their own community. The project team offers guidance and support to reduce diabetes risks and improve your county's health. Working together, the diabetes coalition, project team, local residents, agencies, businesses and community groups aim to reduce diabetes risks. The focus is to:
- Increase local knowledge about diabetes and healthy lifestyle behaviors.
- Create healthy places for people to live, learn, work, and play.
- Identify ways local policies can better promote healthy lifestyles.
